Kumon Math and Reading Programs are designed to advance any child’s comprehension and appreciation for learning—and start building an academic advantage.
It starts with the Kumon method of self-learning, and the individualized plan you create for each child. Students begin the program at the perfect starting point for them—based on their knowledge, not grade level.
This ensures students starting at or above grade level can study more challenging material, while those who have fallen behind master missed material before moving on.
Our startup costs are the lowest in our industry. When you sign a franchise agreement, you’ll be responsible for the:
- Initial franchise fee of $1,000
- Materials fee of $1,000
Overall franchise opening cost can vary, but typically ranges from about $69,428–$140,626 (depending upon location)
You’ll manage both the educational and business aspects of running a Kumon Center, including:
Educational
- Assessing and guiding students
- Developing individualized programs
- Meeting with parents
Business
- Managing finances
- Recruiting and managing staff
- Participating in marketing efforts
- Reaching out to the community
No. It’s most important that you have a passion for working with children and helping them become confident and capable leaders of tomorrow. With the Kumon method, your role is not to teach, but rather to guide the student through our self-learning program.
Though experience in education can be useful, current owners have come to us with a range of different backgrounds. Many franchisees are also Kumon parents—their own children are students or graduates of our program.
Kumon North America provides training, support, and resources before, during, and after you open your Center.
- Initial training through the Kumon Instructor Development Program
- Support system of Kumon staff including recruiters, branch managers, and other franchisees
- Continuing education for franchisees, including meetings with other Kumon instructors in their community
