Making calls:

You’ll want to set time aside each day to confirm appointments for the next day and to call parents who have not yet scheduled an appointment with the Call Center. The information for these parents will come to you as leads, both from your own marketing and from national marketing efforts such as TV and radio commercials.

Preparing for students to arrive:

An important part of your role will be to determine individual abilities, strengths and weaknesses, to keep kids motivated and to regularly assess and review their work. Much of the time in your day will be spent planning and organizing student assignments.

Kumon’s Commitment: Ongoing Support

Once you complete training, your Field Consultant will be available for support and direction. Plus, you'll be able to stay in touch with owners you met in training.

Meeting with parents:

One of the most rewarding parts of your day will be the time you spend with the parents of current students to discuss their kids’ progress. You’ll also be meeting with new parents to explain why Kumon is exceptional and to give their kids a placement test. The placement test is to determine where they are in their level of learning and skills.

To give you an idea, here is Carlos Saavedra, Instructor/Owner of the Prospect Heights Kumon Center, explaining what he looks for in preschoolers as they complete their placement test:

On a typical day,
you’ll find yourself...

School-age kids will then work independently on their worksheets. Preschoolers will work with you or an assistant as they develop independence. As kids complete their work, you or an assistant will grade it and the kids will correct their errors.

Building new business:

You’ll find new business when you leave your Center and connect with other business owners, neighbors, organizations, etc.

When at the Center, kids will arrive with their work from home to be graded. They will correct any mistakes and receive guidance from you, including reviewing goals.

Working with students:

Your students will complete Kumon worksheets each day, two days a week at your Center and the rest of the days at home.

On any given day, you might call on a preschool, connect with a homeschooling group, or attend a networking meeting. Kumon will provide you with marketing tools and ideas. Opportunities to let people know about your Center and about the benefits of Kumon are all around you!
